Late-Summer 2025 Trucking Calendar: what’s ahead and how to prep
It’s August 10, 2025, and summer still has a few curveballs for drivers. Here’s a future rundown of what’s coming up and how to get your flatbed securement dialed in before inspections and holiday traffic.
CVSA Brake Safety Week
Dates: August 24–30, 2025
Focus: Brake systems. Expect attention on air leaks, pushrod travel, hoses and lines, low-air warnings, drums and rotors.
Prep checklist
- Fix any air leaks and replace chafed lines.
- Verify proper pushrod travel and brake balance.
- Keep storage tidy so inspections go fast.
- Match chain diameter and binder size to the WLL for heavier summer loads.
Labor Day travel period
Holiday: Monday, September 1, 2025
Traffic spikes and work zones will slow everything down. Plan extra time for pre-trip and mid-trip checks so you are not making rushed adjustments in congestion.
Prep checklist
- Replace sun-baked or cut webbing. Every strap needs a readable WLL tag.
- Add edge protection on sharp corners.
- Keep spare rubber tarp straps and a dry tarp ready for pop-up storms.
Colorado I-70 chain-law season begins
When: September 1 through May 31
If your lanes cross the I-70 mountain corridor between Dotsero and Morrison, commercial vehicles must carry sufficient chains during this period. When chain law activates, chains must be installed.
Prep checklist
- Stow chains where they are easy to reach.
- Keep securement tight so you are not adjusting on a shoulder in bad weather.
- Inspect strap and chain contact points before grades and descents.
National Truck Driver Appreciation Week
Dates: September 14–20, 2025
Good week to schedule service, restock securement, and take advantage of driver-appreciation deals. We will run in-store perks in Chicago along with online offers that week.
Quick securement routine for the next 6 weeks
- Do a 60-second strap sweep at each fuel stop. Retire any strap with a damaged or unreadable tag.
- Check chains for stretched links, cracks, or bent hooks.
- Ratchet binders should operate smoothly and seat pins fully.
- Use corner protectors and sleeves on sharp edges.
- Keep tarps dry and out of direct sun when parked.
- Store gear in a cab rack or toolbox so inspections and rechecks are faster.
TarpHaus picks for late summer
- 4 in × 30 ft TarpHaus ratchet straps with flat hooks and heat-tough polyester webbing.
- G70 transport chains and ratchet binders sized as a matched set.
- Lumber and steel tarps plus corner protectors and rubber tarp straps.
- Cab racks and underbody boxes to keep everything organized for quick inspections.
