We can service contracts and install one system for your truck as well. We can also service your current system.
Conestoga Trailer Systems are a rolling covered tarp system that are fitted and installed onto your flatbed trailer. These systems are an expensive alternative to tarping but in the long run can be a time and money saver, if you are hauling the correct types of loads. Conestoga systems are great for protecting your Lumber, Cardboard, or any specialized cargo and keeping it protected and out of the elements, better than any tarping can.
We all know tarping is time consuming and many tarps are very heavy, making this back-breaking work. If you add up all the tarps you purchase over a few years and the hours tarps those loads; you may come to realize purchasing a Conestoga may be worth the money. In the end it saves you time, you can charge more for loads you haul, and you never have to carry a 100 lbs tarp again.
Investing in quality equipment upfront can help you save time and money in the long run. It can save you with the loading and unloading of the cargo and give you the options to book more loads since you do not have to spend hours tarping.
Conestoga Trailers vs. Flatbeds vs. Dry Van Trailers
A Conestoga system differs from a flatbed and dry van because it is essentially the best of both worlds. It has the capabilities of being loaded and unloaded like a flatbed but then being completely dry and covered like a Dry van.
A Conestoga trailer system consists of a complete mechanically networked together system of rails that slide back along the base of your trailer bed. This is then covered with a full tarping system that is attached to that base rail. This whole system gives your trailer one hundred percent coverage and full protection to the elements while out on the road. The back “flap” or “door” is attached to a mechanism that rolls up with a lever for access inside before you start sliding your system open.
Conestoga Trailer Systems are a better option for being able to haul more loads than its predecessor the Side Kits because they have the ability to be loaded on the sides and on the tops by a crane or forklift, where as a side kit you are more limited to the cargo loads you are able to book. Dry Vans also have limitations on the cargo they can book and carry. With a Conestoga system you also don’t run the risk of damaging the loads while tarping, which can come from crushing the commodity while tying it down. With a Conestoga System you can feel confident that you are delivering your goods to the customer safely and with no damage from tarps or the protectors used during tarping.
After your cargo has been loaded and strapped or chained down, all you must do is slide the system back into place, lock it and roll down the back door or flap. You are done and on the road. No 1-hour tarping session throwing a 99 lbs tarp and then bungee it down. Hoping your cargo stays dry. With a Conestoga you know your load will be safe and your client will be happy.
There are a few limits when it comes to a Conestoga system that you should think about before you decide to get one. You will be limited to the type of loads you can carry. You will not be able to book any oversized loads. The issue with a system is that you can not expand the tarp beyond the trailer size. Also, you are only able to carry loads to a certain weight rating to be within the systems limits. Exceeding that can cause manufacturing issues. 44,000 pounds limits are the usual limits but please refer to the system limits you get installed.
