10-Minute Tarp Health Check: Quick Fixes to Extend Your Vinyl Cover’s Life

1. Flashlight Truth-Serum Test (2 min)
Kill the shop lights, crawl under the tarp, and shine a flashlight from the outside. Any pin-prick of daylight is a future waterfall. Circle leaks with a paint marker so you can slap on a vinyl patch later. Tiny holes love to hide along crease lines where road grit acts like sandpaper.

2. Feel the Seams (2 min)
Run your fingertips along every stitched seam. If the thread feels fuzzy instead of slick, UV has gnawed the nylon and it’ll pop on the next wind whip. A quick bead of clear seam-sealer does wonders—hit both sides and give it an hour to cure.
