Transportation chains are an important component to the flatbed industry. When transporting cargo and heavy loads you will need to use transportation chains. Here at TarpHaus we know just how important good quality and we provide you with the best choices and options for your trucking needs.

G70 Transportation Chains are made from high strength carbon steel, and then chromate coated for extra protection against rust and corrosion. Our chains have been proof tested and embossed with the specific Working load limit on the hooks for the sizes and the links are also marked with the grades according to the DOT and NACM specifications.

As a rule of thumb, the Breaking Strength for a chain is 3x the Working Load Limit on the chain. Even though you have a Breaking Strength listed you should never go beyond the listed Working Load Limit for safety reasons. Once you start taking any product beyond the working load limit, the materials start to deteriorate and become a safety hazard.

Always make sure you check and look over your chains and all the links for any breaks, weak links, etc. Take any chains out of service that may not be safe and replace them immediately.

The standard hook on all chains and binders is a clevis grab hook. Many other types of hooks are offered such as Slip hook, slip hook with Latch, Clevis Grab Hook with Latch and these will be clearly defined in any listing if the binder or chain will stray from the standard Grab hook. You may also purchase different hooks and swap them out on your own, always sway out the same size for size and stay within the same working load limits to be within DOT guidelines.

Ratchet Binders:

Ratchet binders are the most widely used type of binder. TarpHaus offers you many different types of choices when it comes to G70 Ratchet Chain Binders.

Ratchet chain binders are very easy to use. The ratchet binders are the safest option because they do not have the option to “snap” back (recoil) when trying to tighten down the binder and chains. These binders increase the tension in the chain until it is taut, using a twisting motion.

We offer the standard ratchet binders from 5/16” – 1/2”. TarpHaus also offers upgraded styles of Ratchet binders with higher Working Load limits called Pro Binders that offer Drivers a better and stronger barrel for longer longevity.

All our binders are tested to meet or exceed the DOT guidelines and NACM standards. Binders are stamped with the sizes and Working Load Limits on the Handles and hooks. Please do not exceed the Working Load Limits as stated due to the possibility of product breaking and harm to product, cargo and/or humans.

Lever Binders:

Lever Binders are also called snap binders sometimes, this being due to the easiness of the handle being able to snap back during use. They have a higher risk of the binder recoiling because the binders store so much energy in the handle.

The positive side of using these binders is that you are able to tighten them faster than the ratchet styles. With these Lever Binders you have to use leverage to tighten the chains. Once these are tightened down, you can lock the lever binder down by rotating them 180 degrees.

All TarpHaus Lever Binders are stamped and tested according to DOT regulations and NACM standards. Please follow all Working Load Limits to avoid any injuries or accidents.

Recoilless Lever Binder:

Recoilless binders are the safer option for a Lever binder. They have a lever mechanism in them that helps negate the risk of the recoil as with standard Lever binders. With recoilless binders the center cam moves independently, therefore it breaks up the energy in the handle.

All our recoilless binders are tested and stamped according to DOT regulations and NACM standards. Please follow all Working Load Limits to avoid any injuries.
