Cool Hauling

Coil Racks are a must when transporting Coils.  They stabilize the coils giving them a nice secure place to sit on your trailer bed.  Coil Racks do not have a working load limit and are not considered a load securement device, they are only meant to help keep your cargo in one specific place while securing it down with DOT approved chains and binders.

Coil Hauling is a specialty type of Flatbed trucking and with that comes needing the right supplies. You can’t just show up without the proper equipment before being loaded. Even before having a coil placed onto the bed of your trailer, you need certain items to ensure the coil will not move around during the securement process.

Underneath all coils you should have a Coil Mat or Coil Pad (or Both for heavy duty coils). These are thin and long pieces of rubber matting that will help the coil not only stay in place but will help with friction and scuffing of the coil during load/unloading and transportation. These coil mats usually run horizontal from coil rack to coil rack and also underneath the coil (in the case of a coil mat).

Beveled Lumber is typically used in conjunction with the coil racks to further stabilize the coils you are hauling. These Beveled pieces of wood are laid on opposite ends of the coil racks and run from end to end. Between the coil racks and the beveled lumber this makes a box of sorts to lay the coil inside and gives it a stabilized place on your flatbed.

Once your coil has been secured down, you will need a good, fitted tarp. Coil Tarps are made specifically to encompass a coil completely, sometimes they are called coil bags since they are made in a semi-circle fashion. Coil Tarps are sewed together so that they can completely protect the coil from any weather, dirt and debris while on the road. TarpHaus knows how important a good coil tarp is and we offer them in a double and quad stitched to ensure they are extra strong at the seams to ensure they will last you a long time within normal wear. Our coil tarps come with 3 rows of d-rings to give ample tie down points for your bungees. Coil Tarps typically come in two standard sizes but can vary from vendor to vendor. But a 6’ will cover most sized coils while a 7’ size will cover your larger and heavier duty coils you’re hauling.

When ordering, knowing or understanding what you need is crucial to having the correct equipment to do your job correctly. If you have any questions, please call TarpHaus and we can help you with all your needs.
