5 Trucking Movies to Watch This Halloween
Halloween doesn’t always need ghosts and haunted houses. Sometimes an empty highway, a CB radio and an 18-wheeler in your mirror are enough. Here are five truck-heavy movies worth adding to your Halloween watch list.
1. Duel (1971)
Steven Spielberg’s early classic turns a massive tanker truck into the villain. A traveling salesman is relentlessly hunted across lonely desert highways by a driver we barely see. Simple idea, serious tension, and still one of the best examples of making a truck genuinely terrifying.

2. Maximum Overdrive (1986)
If killer trucks sound ridiculous, that is exactly why this one works. Machines suddenly come alive, leaving a group of people trapped at a truck stop surrounded by homicidal 18-wheelers. Stephen King, AC/DC and evil semis. Pretty hard to get more Halloween than that.
3. Breakdown (1997)
Kurt Russell’s wife disappears after accepting a ride from a seemingly helpful trucker. What follows is a tense highway thriller involving truck stops, big rigs and some very bad people. Watch this one before accepting help from strangers on an empty road.

4. Joy Ride (2001)
A prank over a CB radio goes very wrong when three young travelers attract the attention of a mysterious trucker known as Rusty Nail. It is creepy, fast-moving and probably the best reminder that annoying strangers over the CB is rarely a great idea.
5. The Ice Road (2021)
The newest movie on our list is more thriller than horror, but the idea of hauling big rigs across melting ice is scary enough. Liam Neeson leads a group of ice-road truckers on a dangerous rescue mission after a mine collapse in northern Canada. Watch it for the trucks, frozen roads and constant feeling that something is about to go very wrong.

So grab some popcorn, park the truck for the night and enjoy. And remember: if an old tanker has been following you for 50 miles this Halloween, maybe skip the next rest area. 🎃🚛
